Wales Social Care Provider M&D Care Bring Home National Award

Local care providers M&D Care, are flying the flag for the social care sector in Wales, bringing home the Employer Award from the National Learning Disability & Autism awards on Friday.

Llanelli based providers of specialist care and bespoke services, M&D Care, were thrilled to have received the Employer Award at the National Learning Disability & Autism awards, held in Birmingham on Friday 8th July 2022.

The Employer Award seeks to acknowledge and celebrate an exceptional employer who is committed to their employees delivering an excellent service to their customers, people with learning disabilities or people with autism and their families. To be nominated for the award, employers must be able to provide considerable acumen and entrepreneurial flair whilst at the same time having a sustained track record of delivering high quality care and managing change improvement.

The judges shared the following words, “M&D Care have adopted an ethos of valuing, retaining and developing staff, to provide person-centred care and support. Despite the recent challenges for the sector, they have adopted innovative ways to nurture growth and develop the business. Their family values ensure that they really do put people first.”

M&D Care Co-Founder and Company Development Director, Michelle Martin-Davies commented on the fantastic achievement saying, “It’s a great honour to have been recognised nationally for the way in which we value, retain and develop our staff. Despite the challenging and unprecedented of times the care sector has faced over the last two years, the dedication, care and commitment our employees have shown towards the people we support has truly been outstanding. This achievement would not have been possible without them.”

Head of People & Culture, Gemma Howells followed, “For me one of the greatest assets of M&D Care is its people. An integral part of our people-first culture is treating people with respect and ensuring everyone has a sense of belonging. Placing people at the heart of everything we do is essential, but also listening and hearing their voices is vital. It’s imperative that we are passionate about the culture of our business and remain innovative in our approach, because it’s this passion that will inspire others.”

This family owned company has seen extensive development over the past 6 months, acquiring Carmarthenshire based Inspiration Lifestyle Services (ILS) earlier this year, followed by in May the opening of their latest Specialist Residential Support facility, Tegfan in Ammanford. M&D Care’s commitment to development has seen the company become one of the leading care providers in Wales and an employer of choice within the communities in which it operates.

Awards such as these shine a much needed spotlight on this sector and the workers that make it great. As a passionate social care provider M&D Care will continue to ensure that the voices of the people supported and their carers are heard well into the future and will continue to showcase the amazing contributions care workers make to the lives of the most vulnerable people in our communities. M&D Care hopes to continue their representation of the care sector in Wales for many more award ceremonies to come.
