A total of 95.5% of A- level students in Carmarthenshire achieved A*-E.
Through a combination of exams and assessments, applicable to different courses, a total of 23% of A level students across Carmarthenshire have received A or A* this year; whilst 86.4% of the county’s AS students in Carmarthenshire achieved A-E grades.
On receiving her results today, Kate from Queen Elizabeth High School said:
“I had an A* and three A’s and in September I’ll be going to Oxford to study Theology and Religion. Tonight, I will be celebrating with my friends.”
Cllr. Glynog Davies, Cabinet Member for Education and Welsh Language said:
“Congratulations to our young people that are receiving their A-Level and AS results today, we are all very proud of you.
“You are the bright future of Carmarthenshire and my thanks goes to you, your teachers, support staff, families and friends for all of your hard work and commitment, thank you. I wish you the very best and look forward to hearing of your future achievements, whatever road you make take.”
In a joint statement, Carmarthenshire County Council’s Chief Executive, Wendy Walters and Director of Education and Children’s Services, Gareth Morgans added:
“Congratulations to our A-Level and AS students. These results reflect your hard work and perseverance, and they are thoroughly deserved.
“On behalf of Carmarthenshire County Council, we would like to thank you for your dedication and thank your teachers, support staff, families and friends for their role in your success. We wish you the very best for the future, diolch yn fawr.”
