Large scale emergency services operation underway at riverside in Carmarthen

A large scale emergency services operation is underway in Carmarthen on the riverside near Glangwili.

Police, the fire service, the ambulance service and a mountain rescue team arrived at the scene at around 5:30.

A bystander who did not wish to be named said that there had been an incident on or near the Gwili river.

A spokesperson for the Mountain Rescue said that a teenage girl had been washed over a number of waterfalls in the river Gwili and had been treated for possible spinal injuries. The girl was taken by stretcher to the road by Western Beacons Mountain Rescue Team and transferred by ambulance to hospital.
