Failing to identify driver alleged to have been guilty of an offence cost Brewer £514

38-Year-old Gareth David Brewer of Tonypandy appeared before Llanelli magistrates’ Court on Friday (Jul 8). charged with driving  a motor vehicle, on the A40 A40 near the junction to Llanllwch, Carmarthen, subject of a local traffic order, namely the A40 Trunk Road (Travellers Rest, Carmarthenshire)(50mph & 30mph Speed Limits) Order
2019, at a speed exceeding 50 miles per hour. Contrary to the above local traffic order and sections 84 and 89(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988.

The court heard that on 11/09/2021 at 09:54 the defendant drove a motor vehicle on the A40  at a speed
exceeding the legal limit of 50 miles per hour. The speed recorded by means of a manned camera was 65 mph.

The charge was dismissed.

The court also heard that on 14/10/2021 at a Safety Camera Unit, having been required by or on behalf of
the Chief Officer of Police for Dyfed Powys, failed to give information relating
to the identification of the driver of a vehicle,  who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.
Contrary to section 172(3) of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988.

Brewer was fined £180 and ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34.

Brewer also had to pay costs of £300 to the Crown Prosecution Service. His driving record was endorsed with 6 points.
