Over 70 cost motorist £100

A 36-year-old man has appeared before Llanelli Magistrates’ Court charged with a speeding offence.

Luke Toms of Fforest Fach, Tycroes, Ammanford appeared before the court in order to make a statutory declaration following conviction by a single magistrate for an offence of speeding by Llanelli Magistrates Court on 03/05/2022.

The court heard that on  28/11/2021 at Carmarthenshire Toms drove a motor vehicle, namely an Audi Tt
on a dual carriageway road, namely Overpass, A48 Near Pensarn, Carmarthenshire , at a speed exceeding 70 miles per hour. Contrary to article 2(c) of the 70 Miles Per Hour, 60 Miles Per Hour and 50 Miles Per Hour (Temporary Speed Limit) Order 1977, section 89(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and Schedule 2.

Toms pleaded guilty and was fined £66. He was ordered to  pay a £34 surcharge to fund victim services. His
driving record was endorsed with 3 points. The Defendant’s guilty plea was taken into account when sentencing was imposed.
