At the Full Council Meeting of Kidwelly Town on 9th July 24, the following was covered.
Active Travel Route Survey
The Council have received funding for an Active Travel Consultation, for feedback on travel difficulties between Kidwelly and Ferryside including the Park Dean Carmarthen Bay Holiday Caravan park. The hope is that with enough responses, funding might be obtained to improve the links which could have particular benefits for the tourism economy, local businesses, and those who commute to the caravan park and the other town. A QR code is available from the town council, or the form can be obtained at https://forms.office.com/e/h5QN42d8cq
Smart Towns Group
Smart towns collect and share digital data and can help traders, visitors and residents with better connectivity and also big screens of local information including public transport, events, council news releases. Town Council artifacts currently stored at the Industrial Museum have been collected – the intention being to open a room in St Marys Church to house these in display cabinets to form a small museum. There are very many old documents, and a local enthusiast has been identified to sort and record these – a Maximus funded project.
The Town Square was to be finished by Friday 12th July one day before the carnival – a huge success reported upon previously – and whilst not completed was opened up by that date. There were additional costs of £6,800 for replacing some of the planned surface materials with grass.

Community Halls – only Mynyddygarreg hall was covered, it was reported that the hall is financially secure – the roof needs some repair, the bar is being refurbished, and there is a plan to convert the kitchen to a café & shop.
