All aboard for the Diesel Running Day and Brakevan Rides at Cynheidre

The Llanelli and Mynydd Mawr Railway are pleased to announce a further opportunity to enjoy a brake van ride behind our local celebrity Sentinel Shunter 10222 on Saturday 13th August 2022.

Brakevan rides will operate with 10222 between 10am and 3pm from our base at Cynheidre, just a short car or bus ride from Llanelli on the B4309 old Carmarthen Road.

What’s On?
Take a ride over our historic railway line and support us to extend the line in the future.
Have a picnic on our benches and watch the trains go by.
Learn about the heritage of the railway and colliery in our heritage centre.
Well-behaved dogs on a lead are welcome.

Refreshments are available in our main compound, along with our fundraising stall selling second-hand clothes, toys, DVDs and more.

The new Llanelli and Mynydd Mawr Railway is based at Cynheidre near Llanelli on the site of the old Cynheidre Colliery. Our trains run on part of the old Llanelli Tramroad, one of the oldest railways in the world.

Important Covid Safe information: Hand sanitiser stations are located around the railway, including on the train for your safety.

Please note that all attractions are subject to on the day availability and we reserve the right to make alterations to the arrangements at short notice if necessary.

The railway is a charity run totally by volunteers. It is hoped it will grow into a major tourist attraction for the Llanelli district and in order to reach our goals we need more volunteer help in all departments including operational, maintenance and restoration, and administration.
