Footballers pay emotional tribute to remember those suffering through War in Ukraine

As rescuers dig tirelessly to try and find people buried in the rubble of a theatre in Ukraine, some 1,801 miles away in Dafen, Llanelli a large group of footballers were standing shoulder to shoulder as the Ukrainian national anthem played. Ukrainian flags were placed around the Dafen Football Ground.

Cllr Rob Evans gave a speech and paid tribute to the teams and offered his thoughts and prayers for the people of Ukraine.

Dafen Welfare senior team and Dafen Welfare juniors played this special game against Pontarddulais AFC on a gloriously sunny spring day far from the troubles and horror of war in Ukraine.

Remembering those Ukrainian People suffering in War the players and those who attended donated  funds for the humanitarian aid with the help of Llanelli Rotary.

It was  the  last game for Dafen. Sadly they lost 4 – 2 to Pontarddulais.
