MP joins 100th birthday party celebrations for Mrs Dora Bowen

It is not every day that one celebrates a 100th birthday be you an invited guest or the celebrant.

Mrs Dora Bowen of Llanelli celebrated her 100th birthday on Friday July 8th with a lovely garden party with family, friends and neighbours.

Mrs Bowen was also joined by Dame Nia Griffith MP. Mrs Bowen did not hesitate to express her views on contemporary life including politics taking an active part in conversations and voicing her opinions clearly about the current political situation. Mrs Bowen was also joined by the Chairman of Carmarthenshire County Council Cllr Rob Evans and his consort Cllr Nysia Evans.

In the true spirit of those from a bygone generation Mrs Bowen chose not to receive but to give, asking people to donate to the Salvation Army rather than showering her with gifts. To date Dora has raised £600 for the Salvation Army.

The cake which incorporated a photo of Mrs Bowen aged 17 when she joined up to the WAAF was made by Mark Clement Celebration Cakes.
