The First Minister’s St David’s Day message – 2023

Dydd Gwyl Dewi hapus i chi.

I hope you have a great day wherever you are this year.

At a time when things can feel worrying and uncertain, today is an opportunity for us all to come together and celebrate Wales.

It’s an opportunity for us to show who we are and what we stand for.

Wales is a country proud of its open and progressive values.

A nation of close-knit communities with a strong sense of social justice and fairness.

A Nation of Sanctuary that welcomes those who have been displaced by war and conflict and those seeking a safe place to live.

A world leader when it comes to sustainability as we move towards a net zero Wales.

A place where businesses, creators and innovators can thrive.

We have a rich history, a vibrant and distinctive culture, and a unique language — Cymraeg.

We are a land of sport and song. But we’re so much more than that.

Today’s modern Wales is a country of innovation, inclusivity – and, most importantly of all, kindness.

Wherever you are celebrating St David’s Day – mwynhewch – enjoy!

Dydd Gŵyl Dewi hapus i chi.

Gobeithio cewch chi ddiwrnod da, ble bynnag yr ydych eleni.

Mae hwn yn gyfnod o bryder ac ansicrwydd i rai. Ond mae heddiw yn gyfle i bawb ddod at ei gilydd a dathlu ein Cymreictod.

Cyfle i ni ddangos pwy ydym ni, a beth sy’n bwysig i ni.

Mae Cymru’n genedl sy’n falch o fod yn agored a blaengar.

Cenedl o gymunedau clos, sy’n credu’n gryf mewn cyfiawnder a thegwch i bawb.

Cenedl o Noddfa, sy’n rhoi croeso i bobl sy’n ffoi rhag rhyfel ac eisiau lle saff i fyw.

Cenedl sy’n arwain y byd wrth ddod yn gynaliadwy, yn Gymru sero net,

A chenedl i fusnesau, pobl greadigol ac arloeswyr lwyddo.

Mae gennym hanes hir, diwylliant lliwgar ac unigryw, a iaith i’w thrysori – Cymraeg.

Rydym yn wlad o chwaraeon ac o ganu. Ond llawer mwy na hynny hefyd.

Heddiw, mae’r Gymru fodern yn arloesol, yn gynhwysol – ond yn fwy pwysig na dim, mae Cymru yn garedig.

Ble bynnag yr ydych yn dathlu Dydd Gŵyl Dewi – mwynhewch!
