In a joint statement, police and council officials acknowledged the concern that the situation has caused among parents and school staff.
“We understand there will be concern among parents and school staff following the message that was issued earlier this morning,” the statement said. “We can assure that the necessary and appropriate safeguarding measures have been taken based on the information received by Dyfed-Powys Police. We continue to work with Carmarthenshire County Council.”
The statement also confirmed that no other schools in the local area have required closure and that updates will be provided when possible to keep all those affected informed of developments.
