MP for Carmarthen visits businesses affected by flooding

On Friday 14 November 2025, Ann Davies the Member of Parliament for Caerfyrddin, visited businesses in Carmarthen that were severely affected by the recent flooding caused by heavy rainfall and the rising Tywi river.

Ann had previously visited one of the local businesses during the height of the flooding to offer support and to see the situation first-hand. She returned on Friday to meet with several businesses in the Pensarn area to hear directly about the impact on both businesses and residents, and to discuss the steps being taken to recover.

Speaking after the visit, Ann Davies MP said:

“This has been an incredibly challenging time for our community. I wanted to come back and listen to those affected, understand the difficulties they are facing, and liaise with the relevant authorities to ensure the right support is available. It’s important that everyone feels they are not facing this alone.”

During the visit, Ann spoke with business owners and staff about the financial and operational challenges caused by the flooding, as well as the determination to reopen and serve the community. One café reopened on the day of her visit, a clear sign of the commitment and spirit within Carmarthen.

Whilst Ann’s visit focused on Carmarthen, she emphasised that the impact of the flooding has been felt across the constituency.

“All over Caerfyrddin, constituents and businesses have been affected by these severe weather conditions. My priority is to ensure that support reaches those who need it most and that we work together to help communities recover.”
