Ysgol Bro Myrddin placed under lockdown following threat against pupil

A school was placed into lockdown on Wednesday, December 10, following a reported threat against a pupil.

Students at Ysgol Bro Myrddin in Carmarthen were prevented from leaving the premises while emergency services attended the scene, including armed Police. According to Carmarthenshire County Council, the lockdown was initiated under police instruction.

A spokesperson for Dyfed Powys Police said:

“The lockdown at Ysgol Bro Myrddin, in Carmarthen, has been lifted and students have been released from the school.”

The spokesperson also confirmed that officers remained at the scene at the time to continue enquiries into the reported threat against the pupil. No arrests had been made.

This is the second time the school has been placed under lockdown. In October 2024, a 16-year-old was arrested following threatening messages sent to a pupil whilst on school property.
