| More than 100 pupils from Cwrt Rawlin Primary School took part in this year’s Caerphilly 2K, helping to raise more than £7,000 for the school and secure victory in the 2026 School Community Challenge. |
| The school recorded the highest number of entries in the school category, earning a gift voucher as part of the challenge, which rewards schools and sports clubs for encouraging participation in the event.
The money raised will support new equipment, learning resources and opportunities for pupils. The funding could also contribute towards the development of a Daily Mile track on the school playground and help launch a new Cwrt Rawlin 2K after-school running club. Cllr Chris Morgan, Cabinet Member for Sport and Leisure, said: “To see more than 100 pupils taking part in the Caerphilly 2K is fantastic. The Community Challenge is designed to encourage schools, families and communities to be active together, and Cwrt Rawlin has fully embraced that opportunity while raising an incredible amount for the school.” Cllr Carol Andrews, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Education, Communities and Transformation, said: “This is a fantastic achievement by the whole school community. The funds raised will help enhance opportunities for pupils and support an environment where children can learn, develop and reach their full potential.” Although the event has now taken place, the school’s fundraising page remains open and donations are still welcome online.
