Carmarthenshire County Council Extend Condolences to Local Councillor’s Family

Cllr Linda Evans, leader of Carmarthenshire County Council,  has offered condolences to Cllr Peter Cooper’s family following his passing. In a statement issued today (12th August) Cllr Evans said:

“We were saddened to learn of the recent passing of our colleague, Councillor Peter Cooper.

“On behalf of Carmarthenshire County Council, I would like to extend our thoughts and condolences to Peter’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.

“Peter was a dedicated public servant who gave many years of service to his community. Originally elected to Carmarthenshire County Council in May 2004, he served with commitment and determination, returning to the Council in May 2022 after being re-elected to represent the people of Saron Ward.

“During his time on the Council, Peter was a valued member of the Licensing Committee and had previously served on the Planning Committee. He was always keen to ensure the voices of local residents were heard and represented.

“Beyond his work as a county councillor, Peter made a significant contribution to public life. He was a former Chair of Llandybie Community Council, a former Justice of the Peace, and served as Secretary and Director of Cyngor ar Bopeth Rhydaman. Through these roles, he demonstrated a lifelong commitment to supporting and serving others.”
