Brynmelen Benefits from Highway Repairs

Swansea Council’s highways repair teams are continuing to visit communities across the city to fix roads in need of repair.

The ongoing Small Resurfacing Schemes (SRS) programme is now operating in Lion Street, Brynmelen.

In the first two weeks of August, the crews were at Rodney Street in Sandfields and Bryn Syfi Terrace and North Hill Road in Mount Pleasant in the Castle Ward and next stop will be a visit to fix roads in Bonymaen.

The SRS programme involves smaller repairs to sections of road in streets in every community in Swansea and is designed to complement Swansea Council’s main highways repair programme where full resurfacing schemes are completed during the year.

Andrew Stevens, Cabinet Member for Environment and Infrastructure, said: “The SRS programme is a crucial part of our overall highways maintenance programme.

“As part of a rolling programme of works, the teams will visit every ward in Swansea during the year.

“Roads and streets included in the SRS programme will normally need some resurfacing works but not meet intervention levels where full resurfacing is needed.

“Our aim is to provide a wide range of road repairs schemes that help maintain our roads and provide safe driving conditions for motorists.”

Along with the Council’s full resurfacing programme and SRS, maintenance teams also carry out pothole repairs and aim to fill potholes within 48hrs of them being reported.
