Tenant in Caerphilly handed 5-year suspended sentence in bid to stop anti-social behaviour

A tenant (contract holder) of Caerphilly County Borough Council has been served a 5-year suspended sentence in a bid to stop anti-social behaviour.
The Council’s Caerphilly Homes Anti-Social Behaviour Team made the application to Court in response to ongoing anti-social behaviour which caused alarm and distress to another resident and a member of staff.

Should there be any further incidents of anti-social behaviour at the property the team will make a further application to Court for a full possession order, which could then lead to eviction.

Cllr Shayne Cook, Caerphilly Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, said   “As well as offering reassurance to residents and staff, we hope this acts a warning to others that behaviour such as those experienced at this property will not be tolerated. Measures such as this are always a last resort and, as in this case, after all other reasonable preventive actions have been taken.”

For persistent or severe anti-social behaviour issues caused by contract holders, household members or visitors to Caerphilly Homes properties, please contact Caerphilly Homes Anti-Social Behaviour Team at 01443 811440 or Caerphillyhomesasb@caerphilly.gov.uk.
