I am contacting you on behalf of concerned members of the Ysgol Bro Banw community in Ammanford to ask whether you would be able to help us raise awareness of an important issue affecting our local school.
Carmarthenshire County Council (CCC) is proposing to change Ysgol Bro Banw from its current Category 1 status, with both English and Welsh streams, to a Welsh-medium-only school, potentially under Category 2 or Category 3.
This proposal has caused significant concern among the school community, with staff, governors and parents opposing the proposed changes.
We are keen to ensure that the wider community is aware of what is being proposed and has the opportunity to understand the potential implications for the school, its pupils and local families.
The consultation closes on 20 October, so time is extremely limited. We are urgently seeking media coverage to help spread the word, raise awareness and ensure that the voices of the school community are heard before the consultation deadline.
