A man has been jailed after he broke the conditions of a restraining order by threatening an ex-partner.
Daniel Davies, aged 40, of Spring Valley Lakes, Resolven, was sentenced to 22 months imprisonment at Swansea Crown Court on 22 October. He pleaded guilty to being in breach of a restraining order and driving a motor vehicle dangerously.
Between 7 and 8 of September this year, Davies was contacting an ex-partner, attempting to call them and leaving text messages and voicemails, many of which consisted of threats – despite having an order in place preventing him from contacting her.
On the morning of 8 September, Davies was seen in a car outside his ex-partner’s property in Ammanford. As she drove past him, he beeped the horn and followed her while driving erratically. Davies then overtook her on a narrow lane and stopped his car, preventing her from continuing.
He then got out of the car and shouted threats, before hitting the side window, jumping onto the bonnet of the car and attempting to damage the windscreen. The victim was able to reverse the car and leave the area, before reporting the incident to Dyfed-Powys Police.
Davies was arrested on 14 September and charged the next day.
PC Aaron Jones, of Carmarthenshire Local Investigation Unit, said: “Davies was issued with a restraining order in March this year, which included clear instruction that he was not permitted to contact his ex-partner. He chose to completely disregard this order and subjected the victim to this terrifying ordeal.
“I would like to commend the victim’s courage for reporting Davies to us. Her account greatly assisted us in apprehending Davies and bringing him to court.
“Davies’s sentence demonstrates the seriousness of breaching a restraining order, and highlights our commitment to relentlessly pursuing offenders who subject women and girls to threats of violence.”
