Newport man jailed for selling a stun gun on the Dark Web and offering to sell class A drugs

Jordan Harmon, 28, of Tandem Mill Road, Newport, appeared before Newport Crown Court yesterday (Tuesday 16th May) where he was sentenced to four years in prison for selling a disguised firearm and offering to supply a controlled drug of Class A to another. The firearm was a stun gun device disguised as black torch.

The investigation into Harmon was carried out by Tarian, the Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU) for southern Wales.

Harmon’s activity on the Darkweb originally came to light as part of a national investigation into the illegal supply of firearms on a Darkweb marketplace. Officers from Tarian ROCU subsequently monitored Harmon’s activity on the Darkweb, before arresting him for the possession, and successive illicit distribution of, firearms and prescription drugs.

Detective Inspector Lisa Watkins, of Tarian, said: “Harmon used 21st century technology to facilitate his criminality. The items he was profiting from could have caused serious harm if used.

“Ironically, Harmon’s use of the Darkweb in an attempt to stay hidden was what brought him to our attention.
