Harmony, Friendship and Feel-Good Singing – Ammanford Choir Brings Joy to the Community

In the heart of Ammanford, a group of women are finding joy, strength, and connection through the simple power of song. Côr Persain, a vibrant ladies’ choir, has become much more than a musical group – it’s a weekly dose of laughter, confidence, and community spirit.

Founded to create a welcoming and uplifting space for women of all backgrounds, Côr Persain is open to all – no auditions, no need to read music, just a shared love of singing and togetherness. The choir meets every Tuesday at 7pm in Ammanford Miners’ Theatre, offering a supportive environment where members can relax, have fun, and be part of something special.

“As a local GP and proud member of Côr Persain, I’ve seen first-hand the powerful effect that singing and connection can have on wellbeing,” said one member. “Our rehearsals are filled with energy and encouragement – it’s often the highlight of my week.”

Now, the choir is busy preparing for their much-anticipated annual concert, taking place on Friday, 18th October at Gellimanwydd (Gellimawr) Church, Ammanford. Doors open at 6:30pm, with the concert beginning at 7:00pm. The evening promises a rich mix of musical delights – from the iconic voices of Shirley Bassey and Bonnie Tyler to show-stopping hits from the musicals and beloved Welsh favourites.

Adding to the excitement, Côr Persain will be joined by special guests, the acclaimed Swindon Male Voice Choir – making it a night to remember.

Tickets go on sale in September and will be available from:
