Wales qualify for Para Lawn Bowls at Glasgow CWG 2026

Wales have officially qualified for the Para Lawn Bowls competition at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, joining seven other nations in what promises to be one of the most exciting and inclusive events of the Games.

Athletes from Australia, England, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, Scotland, and Wales will compete across three disciplines: Women’s and Men’s B6–8 Pairs and B2–3 Mixed Pairs.

Wales’s qualification continues an unbroken record of participation in Para Bowls since its inclusion in the Commonwealth Games programme at Manchester 2002. The Welsh para bowlers will now look ahead to Glasgow with determination and pride, aiming to build on their strong performances in previous Games and once again showcase the spirit and talent of Team Wales on the international stage.

The Para Bowls events will take place between 24 July and 2 August 2026, as part of the UK’s largest sporting event next summer. The Games will feature more than 3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories, with a record-breaking 47 Para sport medal events across six disciplines.

Team Wales Chair Gareth Davies said:

“It’s fantastic to see Wales once again represented in the Para Bowls competition at Glasgow 2026. Our para-athletes continue to embody the values of excellence, teamwork and resilience that define Team Wales. Qualification for these Games is a huge achievement, and I know our bowlers will be giving everything to make the nation proud next summer.”

Team Wales Chef de Mission Gethin Jones added:

“We’re delighted that Wales will be part of the Para Bowls line-up in Glasgow. Para sport is such an important part of the Commonwealth Games, and this qualification is a testament to the dedication of our athletes and support staff. The Games in Glasgow promise to be a celebration of inclusion, talent and national pride, and we can’t wait to see our team competing on that stage once again.”
