The North Wales Police Choir was privileged to take part in a special Ceremony of Remembrance at the National Memorial Arboretum, where the new joint Digital Memorial was unveiled as part of the commemorations marking five years since the dedication of the UK Police Memorial.
The poignant ceremony, held yesterday (Tuesday, 28th July) at the National Arboretum in Staffordshire, brought together serving officers, police staff, families of fallen colleagues and representatives from police forces across the United Kingdom to remember those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
The Digital Tribute Wall has been created to ensure that remembrance continues beyond the physical Memorial, enabling stories, memories and reflections to be shared and preserved for future generations. Visitors to the Digital Memorial will be able to read the tributes celebrating the lives, service and legacy of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in policing.
The choir was honoured to provide musical accompaniment before the service as guests arrived, helping to create a fitting atmosphere of reflection and remembrance for all those in attendance.
Choir Conductor, Sergeant Arwyn Jones said: “It was a tremendous privilege for the North Wales Police Choir to be invited to take part in such an important national event. Music has a unique way of bringing people together in remembrance, and we were honoured to help pay tribute to the courage, dedication and sacrifice of police officers from across the United Kingdom.”
Chief Constable Amanda Blakeman KPM said: “This was a deeply moving ceremony that reminds us of all the extraordinary bravery and sacrifice of our policing family. The UK Police Memorial stands as a powerful symbol of remembrance, and the launch of the digital tribute wall ensures that the legacy of those we have lost will continue to be honoured for generations to come. I am incredibly proud of the North Wales Police Choir for representing our Force with such dignity and respect at this significant national occasion.”
