Arrests made following collision on Llanthewy Road

Gwent Police has arrested two people in connection with a collision that took place on Llanthewy Road, Newport, at around 4.40am on Sunday 26 July.

The collision involved a motorcycle and a car, with the car reportedly leaving the scene.

Officers attended, along with personnel from South Wales Ambulance Service; three teenagers, believed to have been travelling on the motorcycle, were taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries. One of the three has been discharged, while two remain in hospital in a stable condition.

Yesterday, officers arrested a 19-year-old man from Newport on suspicion of section 18 – causing grievous bodily harm with intent and a 20-year-old Newport woman on suspicion of assisting an offender. Both remain in police custody at this time.

Enquiries are ongoing and we’re appealing for any witnesses who were in the area at the time to get in touch with us.
