Call to Nominate a Kind Council Tenant in New Swansea Awards

Council tenants living in Swansea are set to be rewarded for their community spirit and efforts to help their neighbours.

Throughout Swansea, thousands of people are living in Swansea Council-owned accommodation.

The Council has now launched the first ever ‘Good Neighbour Awards’, celebrating the efforts some tenants go to, to help their neighbours.

As part of the new awards, a number of categories have been created, each of which will help recognise good and kind neighbourly efforts. They include; Young Hero Award (under 21), Simple Act of Kindness and Star Neighbour Award.

Winners of each award will win a £50 gift card along with a certificate, presented to them at an award ceremony at the Mansion House.

Andrea Harrington, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Transformation, said: “We know that there are lots of council tenants who go above and beyond for people living in their community.

“Whether it’s organising community lunches, walking a neighbour’s dog, helping our elderly tenants by going shopping for them. We want to shine a light on these people and celebrate their contribution to a happy community.

“These awards are about celebrating kindness, not perfection. Lots of our tenants will know people who carry out these acts of kindness and we want them to take part in these fantastic awards and nominate someone who deserves this recognition.”

There are lots of ways for the public to nominate someone, either online, via text message, in writing or email.

Nominations close on 28 August 2026. Send you nominations FAO Alison Winter, by post: Guildhall, Housing, SA1 4PE; Text – 07775 221453; email: Alison.winter@swansea.gov.uk
