West Wales businesswoman continues to win awards

Julie Grabham, living in Parc y Rhos near Lampeter, has won numerous awards for her HR Consultancy, JG HR Solutions Limited and is now adding to her impressive awards collection with yet another award for her workplace cancer campaign the JGHRPledge.

Julie started the campaign, during her own breast cancer journey which started in November 2022 after a routine breast screening in the mobile unit based in Lampeter detected an invasive tumour. The campaign asks UK businesses of any size to support paid time off work for routine breast screenings and provide better cancer support in the workplace.  Julie has the support of Ben Lake MP, Jonathan Edwards MP and Sarah Murphy MS.

Julie was named as a winner of The Woman Who Achieves Award 2024, held in The Marquee at Coombes Abbey Hotel, Coventry on 10th May 2024, making this the 4th award for her inspirational campaign. Other awards were won at the Butterfly Breast Cancer, CIPD Wales and British HR Awards.

Sandra Garlick MBE, Founder of Woman Who, said

“The Judges wanted to recognise Julie for ‘Making a Difference’ and loved her ability to turn her adversity into a positive experience. Julie is a great role model who inspires others.”

The judges words that were read out at the awards. said

“A routine breast screening came back with the news no-one wants for Julie, but instead of a complaining “Why Me” response, she framed that positively and used her HR knowledge to start a campaign to ensure workplaces provided women with the time from work to access screening and to educate them on how to support women and their “cheerleaders” when the worst news hits.”

Julie said

“I am overwhelmed to win this award.  Being in a room full of incredible women and hearing your name called out is something special.  The support I received on the day and afterwards is heartwarming and so many people have contacted me to say my campaign is making a difference.  That was my aim, to help others attend these lifesaving screenings and to take a positive out of my cancer journey. Every award I win for the JGHRPledge, means people are listening and adding to the 150 businesses already in the JGHRPledge. That makes me, my family and my cheerleaders so proud. “

Julie is now supporting others to win awards by being a sponsor and judge at the upcoming Carmarthenshire Business Awards and she is also the main sponsor of Tenovus tea Afternoon being held in Llanelli on 3rd July 2024.
