Carmarthenshire Schools Gear Up for Rugby and Football Finals

The upcoming week promises a thrilling showcase of talent as the Welsh Schools Rugby Cup unfolds, with each participating team hailing from Carmarthenshire.

Set against the backdrop of Principality Stadium on March 20, the cup final will see Strade competing against Maes y Gwendraeth, while the vase final will feature a clash between Bro Myrddin and Bro Dinefwr. Adding to the excitement, the plate final will see Bro Teifi facing off against Bro Pedr in a highly anticipated match.

In addition to rugby, the finals of the girls’ football Welsh Schools Cup will take place, with Bro Myrddin securing a spot in the championship match scheduled for tomorrow.

The remarkable success of Carmarthenshire teams underscores the need for continued support and investment in sports development within the region. Noteworthy achievements include the semi-final participation of Bro Dinefwr’s under-16 girls’ rugby team and Bro Myrddin’s year 9 boys in the same category.

Gareth Morgans, Director of Education and Children, said:

“We are very proud of our schools for their tremendous success in showcasing the rich sporting talent within Carmarthenshire.

The collective efforts and dedication of these teams exemplify the spirit of sportsmanship and excellence, reflecting positively on the community.”
