Wales Air Ambulance thanks volunteers during National Volunteers Week

June is one of the Wales Air Ambulance’s favourite times of the year as it gives the charity an unique opportunity to thank its incredible volunteers.

Volunteers’ Week, takes places from Monday 3 June to Sunday 9 June, and is a perfect opportunity for the Wales Air Ambulance volunteers and staff to get together.

The Wales Air Ambulance operates 24/7 throughout Wales, the Charity needs to raise £11.2 million every year to keep the helicopters flying and its rapid response vehicles on the road.

To mark Volunteers’ Week the charity have a variety of events arranged for their dedicated team. These include combined events with retail and community volunteers.

The Charity’s hubs across Wales will be the main venues for the events, which will include get-togethers in places, such as Tenby and Llanidloes.

Volunteers will be at the heart of the Wales Air Ambulance’s afternoon tea celebrations, with trustees and members of its Senior Management Team also popping in for a cuppa and a cake.

Reflecting on the importance of the week, Volunteer Development Manager Sandra Hembery said: “We’re delighted to have this opportunity to thank our hundreds of hard-working volunteers.

“Each volunteer brings their unique contribution to the Charity and it’s impossible to thank them enough for their services. Volunteers are the backbone of our charity, which we are forever grateful of.

“We are indebted to our volunteers, and this week is one small way of saying ‘diolch o galon’ to them all.”

The week also involves a social media campaign and various recruitment events… but what better way to say thanks than with a brew and a slice of cake?
