PEMBREY Country Park, Llyn Llech Owain Country Park and Mynydd Mawr Woodland Park have once again achieved Green Flag Award status, recognising them among the best-managed green spaces in the country.
Keep Wales Tidy announced today that a record 330 parks and green spaces across Wales have met the high standards required to achieve Green Flag status in 2026. Of these, 93 sites received the full Green Flag Award and 237 achieved Green Flag Community Award status.
The Green Flag Award recognises parks and green spaces that are welcoming, safe, well-maintained and managed to high environmental standards.
Pembrey Country Park, Llyn Llech Owain Country Park and Mynydd Mawr Woodland Park have all been awarded full Green Flag status, reflecting the quality of the facilities, landscapes and visitor experience provided at each site.
The three parks offer a range of opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy the outdoors, including walking and cycling trails, nature conservation areas, play facilities and access to some of Carmarthenshire’s most distinctive landscapes.
Pembrey Country Park combines extensive woodland with access to Cefn Sidan’s eight miles of sandy beach, making it one of Carmarthenshire’s most popular outdoor destinations.
Llyn Llech Owain Country Park is set within 73 hectares of countryside and features nature trails, cycling routes, a children’s play area and a nationally important peat bog habitat designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Mynydd Mawr Woodland Park, located in the Amman Valley, offers scenic woodland walks and panoramic views across the surrounding landscape, while showcasing the area’s industrial heritage and environmental regeneration.
Carmarthenshire County Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture & Tourism, Cllr Hazel Evans, said:

This achievement reflects the ongoing commitment and hard work of our staff and volunteers who help maintain these valued green spaces to such a high standard.” The Green Flag Award is recognised internationally as the benchmark for excellence in the management of parks and green spaces.”
