The fire has now been fully extinguished, and emergency services remain at the scene as work continues to ensure the property and surrounding area are made safe. Specialist teams are carrying out assessments, and the cause of the fire is currently being treated as unexplained pending further investigation.
Lady Street remains closed at this time and is expected to stay closed for a considerable period while emergency crews and investigators continue their work. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to avoid the area where possible and seek alternative routes.
A small number of nearby properties continue to be affected, with access restricted due to ongoing safety concerns. Residents in the immediate vicinity are being kept informed, and support is being provided where necessary.
Officers are appealing for witnesses who may have information that could assist with the investigation. In particular, anyone who was in the area, or who may have captured CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage between 11:00pm on Monday, 23 March and 4:00am on Tuesday, 24 March, is urged to come forward.
