Support for people with hearing loss in Carmarthen

RNID, the charity supporting people who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus, is running local drop-in services to support people with hearing loss in Carmarthen. Sessions are taking place at Wesley Methodist Church on the third Friday of every month, 11.00am – 01.00pm: 20 March, 17 April, 15 May, 19 June.

This project is funded by the National Lottery and the sessions are run by trained RNID volunteers, many of whom have hearing loss themselves.

RNID offer drop-in sessions at local community venues across Hywel Dda, where people with hearing loss can access free hearing aid maintenance, including new batteries and tubing.

The service also offers hearing checks, information and support on living with hearing loss. Other monthly sessions are also taking place in Borth, Llandeilo, Tregaron and Llandysul. Please see our website for more information: www.rnid.org.uk/localsupport-services Lynzie Fitzpatrick, RNID Coordinator for Hywel Dda said: “We are really pleased to run this much needed service across Carmarthen and throughout the Hywel Dda area to support local people with hearing loss.

“We welcome anyone to drop in from the community to meet our friendly volunteers, receive free hearing checks, hearing aid maintenance and information.”

RNID is also looking for more local volunteers to give two hours a month to support these sessions. Volunteers will be given full training and expenses, the opportunity to meet likeminded people and make a difference in their local area.
