Teacher attacked by pupil at Milford Haven Comprehensive

A serious incident unfolded on Thursday afternoon at Milford Haven Comprehensive School, where a teacher was injured and a 15-year-old pupil was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, police have confirmed.

Dyfed-Powys Police were called to the school at around 3:20 pm on Thursday, 5 February, after reports that a pupil had assaulted a teacher while brandishing a weapon on the premises.

Authorities immediately implemented a lockdown, securing classrooms and offices to protect pupils and staff. Although most students had already left for the day, those still on site for after-school activities were kept inside as a precaution.

Superintendent Chris Neve said that the teacher’s injuries are not believed to be stab wounds and that they were taken to hospital for treatment.

Arrest and Ongoing Investigation

A 15-year-old boy was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody as enquiries continue.

Police have confirmed that all pupils were safe, and most were able to leave the school later on Thursday after the lockdown was lifted.

School Closure and Support Measures

In the wake of the incident, Milford Haven School was closed to pupils on Friday to allow additional safety measures and support services to be put in place.

Pembrokeshire County Council and the Hywel Dda University Health Board issued a joint statement affirming their commitment to safeguarding and supporting both pupils and staff affected by the event.

The Welsh First Minister, Baroness Eluned Morgan, expressed deep concern over the assault, emphasising that “violence of any kind has no place in our schools.” Her comments reflected wider anxiety within the local community about the safety of educational environments.

Local leaders have also pledged ongoing support for families and increased visible police patrols around the area to reassure residents and the school community.

The incident has drawn national media attention and sparked discussions around school safety and support for educators. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the assault and the allegations against the arrested pupil.
