Inappropriate AI-generated images of children and women shared on X, but Farage defends Musk
During PMQs today (Wednesday 14 January) Plaid Cymru’s Llinos Medi MP criticised Nigel Farage for defending Elon Musk, the owner of X, the platform on which AI-generated sexualised images of children and women were shared.
Ms Medi said that anyone who defends platforms linked to the sexual exploitation of children ‘forfeits any right’ to give lectures about protecting women and girls.
In August 2025, the leader of Reform UK said that he would protect the “safety of women and girls on our streets” by calling for mass deportation of asylum seekers, saying that he cannot be responsible for “despotic regimes all over the world”.
Raising the issue in Parliament, Ms Medi spoke from personal experience of AI-generated images on another social media platform, and condemned the spread of such content, particularly when it involves children.
Plaid Cymru’s Llinos Medi MP asked:
“As someone with personal experience of AI generated images. The recent AI generated images shared on ‘X’ – particularly those of children – sickens me. Yet the leader of Reform continues to defend Elon Musk.
“Anyone who defends platforms linked to the sexual exploitation of children forfeits any right to give lectures about protecting women and girls.
“What will the Prime Minister do to stop any political party from putting tech billionaires ahead of protecting our children?”
In his response, the Prime Minister said that he was astonished that Reform UK continue to defend Elon Musk, adding that their position on this was “disgusting”. Sir Keir Starmer also added that Reform UK would scrap the Online Safety Act that stops children from accessing harmful content.
