POLICE in Llanelli have been looking for a motorcyclist who miraculously ran away from a head-on collision with a car on a busy Llanelli Road leaving his helmet and one shoe behind within 100 yards of his crashed motorcycle.

A Police helicopter was called in to sweep the area at 4.15 pm (July 5th) joining eight police officers and five mobile units.

Police, who were quickly at the scene, immediately closed the road under Pont Agen Bridge which links the Millennium Coastal Park, Sandy Water Park and Llanelli Town Centre.

One dog walker who asked not to be named said she had spoken to police who were on the scene quickly after the accident happened at 4 pm.

She had been walking her dog on the north side of Old Castle Works Pond when she heard “a big bang.”

The woman said: “Fishermen and other dog walkers were startled by the loud crashing noise. Within seconds this young man wearing just one shoe ran through shrubbery from the road and tore off into the park.

“He passed within 10 feet of me and didn’t seem to be hurt. I went round looking for him when I saw the crashed motorbike and car on the road.

“Police were quickly about and one told me the motorcyclist had hit the car head-on. I gave the best description I could but it was all over in a flash. I would say the guy was in his early twenties.

“Quite frankly I am quite shaken up by it all.”

The road was reopened after police swept up crash debris.
