Seven arrested following raid on Llanelli property

Following a report of an incident during the early hours of Sunday morning (6 August) officers attended an address in Princess Street, Llanelli.

Seven people were arrested, six were later released under investigation and a 30-year-old woman has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Armed police were seen storming a residential property on Princess Street in Llanelli on Sunday. At least six armed officers made their way into the property.

Former Press Officer Ron Cant captured the moment and told us that there was a heavy police presence from around 8am and police remained in the area until at least 4.30pm.

As well as armed police there was a police dog team and drone unit.

One local resident asked Mr Cant; “What is Llanelli coming to? Guns on the street on Sunday morning. They’ve got machine guns and police dogs. It is quite frightening.”

Mr Cant said:  “As I left my house to walk the dog the armed response unit packed with officers screamed past. Other police units but bustling into Erw Road and Old Castle Road. At the junction with Erw Road you could see a cauldron of officers around a Princess Street property. They were preparing to storm the property front and rear. Another police unit nearby put a drone unit up to record the action. Sniffer dogs followed armed officers into the property and within an hour I saw three men aged 20 to 30 handcuffed and accompanied by armed officers led to waiting vehicles. The operation lasted an hour with a police presence remaining at the house. One police officer told me: “So much for a quiet Sunday morning.”
