Suspicious Package in Felinfoel prompts Bomb Squad Response

At 12:25pm today (16th May) a suspicious package was reported to the police in Long Row, Felinfoel Llanelli. Officers along with Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service and the Welsh Ambulance Service were dispatched to the scene on high alert, whereby roads were immediately closed off and the area cordoned off for the safety of the public. Homes were evacuated as a precautionary measure while the package was examined by the explosive ordnance disposal team (EODT).
It was later determined that the package posed no immediate threat to the public and all precautionary measures were lifted, roads were reopened and the cordon lifted.
Dyfed-Powys Police recognised the inconvenience that had been caused, and thanked everyone involved for their cooperation and patience while they ensured the safety of residents and the general public.
Further enquiries will be carried out to establish the source of the item and the intention behind it being placed in a public location.
