A dapper welcome at the seaside for Elvis fans this weekend

Wednesday 20 September, 2023. Porthcawl. Festival goers will be welcomed by a dapper Cor Meibion Porthcawl this weekend thanks to Ogi – Wales’s home-grown broadband provider – as the 19th Elvis themed event gets underway in the town.

Formed in 1980, the choir now has over 50 members form the town, performing a varied repertoire from musicals, to opera, traditional hymns and even the odd pop song.

Appearing at this year’s Elvis Festival – the worlds largest gathering of the King of Rocks fans – choir members will showcase their brand-new concert uniforms, kindly donated by Welsh broadband provider Ogi, through their award-winning community fund.

Busy rolling out a new full fibre network in the town, the Welsh operator is no stranger to the town, having already supported community groups like Porthcawl RFC and Broadway Chorus with more than £2,500 worth of funding, as well as sponsoring the return of the iconic Ogi Porthcawl 10K race earlier this year.

Choir President, Geoff Dower, commented: “Following a series of sellout concerts at the Grand Pavillion, our return to the venue for the 19th Elvis Festival will cap off a wonderful year for us.

“A huge thank you to Ogi – who’s community fund has helped make sure we’re looking dapper for our fans!”
The jam-packed Elvis Festival programme takes place over three days, including a night at the movies, a Vagas show and the annual Elvis Tribute Artists awards-showcase.
