Farming in the spotlight as Royal Welsh Show opens

The Royal Welsh Show opened officially today, Monday (Jul 24). Graduates of the Rural Leadership programme Joshua Govier, Natalie Hepburn and Emily Morgan gave the opening address.

The ceremony was attended by First Minister of Wales Mark Drakeford and Minister for Rural Affairs and North Wales Lesley Griffiths MS.

Following the ceremony Mark Drakeford spoke about the value of the show to the Welsh economy and the work the Welsh Government was involved with to support farming in Wales and address the Climate Change Emergency.

The rain has not dampened spirits and the show is packed with families enjoying all the show has to offer. Ice cream sales might not be what they were in last year’s melting heat.

Weather Forecaster Derek Brockway was at the show and gave us this impromptu forecast.

 

There is so much on offer for the visitor at the 2023 show, which continues until July 27th.
