Hammer blow for Carmarthenshire retail sector as Wilko files notice of intent to appoint administrators

Carmarthenshire will be hit with yet more retail store closures and loss of retail jobs if the retailer Wilko goes into administration.

Wilko has filed a notice of intent to appoint administrators on August 3rd. The potential is that 12,000 jobs will be at risk including all Wilko stores cross Wales.

Llanelli lost its Wilko store in the town centre and now there could be another hammer blow to the town if the Parc Trostre store closes down.

Wilko’s owners have been trying to sell but to date there has been no deal struck to provide the retailer with the cash to stay afloat.

The budget retail market has grown with stores like B&M, Poundland and Home Bargains all cashing in on the market. Online shopping has also had a massive impact on High Street retailers whose overheads are much higher.

The following is a list of Wilko stores set to close if Wilko goes into administration:
