Rhondda Cynon Taf Palestine Solidarity Campaign stages protest for ceasefire

Members of the Rhondda Cynon Taf Palestine Solidarity Campaign staged actions on Wednesday (Nov 15) in Pontypridd to raise awareness of the ongoing attacks on Palestinian civilians in Gaza. We are also calling on our local MPs to support a ceasefire.

The activists held flags, banners and placards on a bridge over the A470 and were greeted by many sympathetic motorists honking their horns in support.

A number of them also visited the office of Alex Davies-Jones, Labour MP for Pontypridd. She has opposed a ceasefire, instead sticking to the Labour line on supporting humanitarian pauses.

Andrew Draper of RCT PSC said: “All actions were peaceful and well received by the public. Opinion polling has shown clear public support for a ceasefire to end the bloodshed. Ceasefires are not easy options and much work is needed to end hostilities once they’re in place. But standing by and doing nothing is not an option for us. We call on our elected representatives to follow the lead of the Welsh Senedd and back an immediate ceasefire.”
