South Wales Police Investigate Stabbing of two Teenage Boys

South Wales Police is investigating a serious assault in Lydstep Park, Gabalfa, Cardiff, which happened just before 7pm last night (Sunday, May 31).

Two local boys aged 16 and 17 were taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, with stab wounds. Their injuries are thankfully not life-threatening and one of the victims has been discharged from hospital.

Detectives are hunting two suspects thought to have been riding a Surron bike in Lydstep Park and Gabalfa Avenue around the time of the assault.

A knife has been recovered.

Detective Inspector Phil Marchant, from South Wales Police, said: “It is very concerning when anyone is stabbed, but the age of these two victims is likely to worry parents and other young people in the area.

“We are carrying out extensive enquiries to identify those responsible as soon as possible, and CCTV will be key to the investigation.

“We urge witnesses or anyone with CCTV to please contact South Wales Police or Crimestoppers anonymously.

“We are aware of the on-going concerns in the area about the illegal and anti-social use of e-bikes and motorbikes in the Gabalfa area.

“We have increased the police presence in the area, and this will continue over the coming days”.
