| Farmers and farm workers across Wales are being encouraged to take part in a unique series of practical emergency first aid workshops designed specifically for the realities of working in agriculture.
Delivered in partnership between the Wales Farm Safety Partnership (WFSP) and the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS), the new Tractors and trauma workshops will provide hands-on training to help participants respond confidently and effectively when unexpected incidents occur on the farm. The Wales Air Ambulance and EMRTS attend an average of around 90 farming-related incidents every year, many involving serious medical and traumatic emergencies such as vehicle incidents, crush injuries, livestock-related accidents and cardiac arrests. Through realistic farm-based scenarios, participants will gain practical skills and knowledge that could help save a life while waiting for emergency services to arrive. Topics covered during the workshops include:

In addition to improving on-farm safety, attendance at the workshop will contribute towards the Sustainable Farming Scheme (SFS) Universal Action 4 (UA4) Continuing Professional Development requirement, allowing participants to claim eligible CPD hours. Farmers are being urged not to wait until an emergency happens. Investing just a few hours in practical first aid training today could provide the knowledge and confidence needed to protect family members, employees, colleagues or neighbours tomorrow. Booking is essential. To reserve a place, visit the Farming Connect website or contact Elen Davies on 07301029435 or Ceri Davies on 07956194837.
