A well-known Swansea artwork inspired by the poetry of Dylan Thomas is set to have a new permanent home at Cwmdonkin Park.
Swansea Council plans to carefully relocate the Leaf Boat sculpture from Castle Square to the popular Uplands park, strengthening its connection to the celebrated literary figure.
Cwmdonkin Park has a strong association with Thomas, who spent his childhood nearby and drew inspiration from the park in his writing.
Cabinet member Elliott King said the artwork will be installed within an existing water feature close to Park Drive.
He said: “We’re delighted that it’ll be in a highly visible location in the park, in an attractive setting for residents and visitors to enjoy.”
The council has worked closely with sculptor Amber Hiscott on the artwork’s future.
Amber has supported the relocation and her contribution will be recognised through new interpretation at the site.
The move, due to take place over the coming weeks, will come during ongoing work to transform Castle Square into a greener, more welcoming city centre space.
Once installed in Uplands, the glass and steel sculpture, which dates from the mid-1990s, will remain freely accessible for residents and visitors to view.
