Swan found dead at Sandy Water Park, Llanelli

A SWAN has been found dead reportedly having been decapitated at Sandy Water Park. Emma Davies who lives in the area said that her son Daniel had been out walking the dog when he came across the grizzly scene.

Emma Said: “My son was walking around the water park this morning and came across a decapitated swan. It was in tact except for the head. I hope the person who killed those swans a few years ago isn’t starting again.”

Emma confirmed that the injury had been ‘a clean cut’. The body was on a bank close to a popular family pub. Emma said: “It’s disgusting, they are such beautiful creatures.”

One commentator said that he “heard there was one a few weeks ago too.”

Another asked if the incident had been reported to DEFRA.

The incident has been reported to Dyfed-Powys Police.

Carmarthenshire County Council said that they had found a dead swan, which had not been decapitated. They said they were unable to determine the cause of death.

In April 2019 the remains of six swans that were decapitated were discovered in the same area.

They were found inside the park, with their heads and necks discovered close by at the same location.

The RSPCA said at the time that they had been shot in the head and body with an airgun, before being decapitated.
