Service supporting vulnerable households in Ceredigion recognised at National Awards Ceremony

A Service supporting vulnerable households in Ceredigion has been recognised with third place at a National Awards Ceremony.

Ceredigion County Council’s Energy Efficiency Schemes were awarded 3rd place at the National Regional Energy Efficiency Awards Ceremony held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel on 14 October 2022.

The Energy Efficiency Awards were introduced to help recognise the fantastic work being undertaken by the energy efficiency sector throughout the UK. 14 Councils were nominated nationally for the award, and Ceredigion County Council scooped third prize for the ‘National Council or Local Authority of the Year’ as recognition for delivering energy efficiency projects for the local community between January 2021 and March 2022. Special emphasis was placed on the successful integration of the ECO Flex and Cozy Ceredigion schemes.

The schemes were judged on:

the impact the work had on the local community.
what the customers and local community had to say about the Council.
what level of expertise the Council had within their own teams.
what priority the council gives tackling fuel poverty within its current plans.
Ceredigion County Council has been delivering the Local Authority ECO Flexible Eligibility scheme along with the Warm Homes Funded Cozy Ceredigion Scheme for several years. These schemes have helped homeowners reduce their energy bills, tackle fuel poverty and reduce carbon emissions through the installation of heating systems and associated insulation measures, therefore improving the energy efficiency of homes. This work has been vital during the cost of living and energy crisis, helping to reduce electricity usage.

Councillor Matthew Vaux is the Cabinet Member responsible for the Housing Service. He said: “Once again I would like to congratulate the Housing Service. This award, alongside the previous awards the Service received in June this year shows a commitment to supporting vulnerable households in our communities in tackling the soaring energy costs. Recognition at a National Level is a reward for the efforts of Service as they continue to support the residents of Ceredigion.”

This award was sponsored by United Living.
