The branch will launch its 2025 appeal with a pop-up shop at 1 Stepney Precinct (the former EE store), opening from October 25 to November 15. The official opening and Poppy Appeal launch will take place at 11am on Saturday, October 25, led by Llanelli Town Mayor Andrew Bragoli.
Local Poppy Appeal organiser Chris Thomas said community support was vital.
“We really need some extra hands to help out,” he said. “If you can spare a few hours to volunteer, we’d love to hear from you. Every poppy sold helps us continue serving the Armed Forces community.”
As part of the campaign, the branch will also stage its first-ever Festival of Remembrance at Ffwrnes Theatre on Sunday, November 16 at 7pm. The event will celebrate and commemorate those who have served in the Armed Forces, featuring performances from the RBL Band Llanelli, Meibion Elli Choir, and local singers including Nikkila Thomas, Betsan Daniel, and Connor Horton.
Tickets cost £5.50 for RBL members and £10.50 for non-members.
The Llanelli branch has enjoyed a strong revival after coming “back from the brink” of closure in 2023. Branch secretary Catherine Davies credited “dedication, teamwork and community support” for helping to rebuild membership and visibility.
“Together we’ve shown what can be achieved when people pull together,” she said.
