A man has been jailed after being caught dealing crack cocaine and heroin.
Craig Jones, 41, from Cardiff has been sentenced to three years in prison following his conviction.
While on a proactive patrol in Callaghan Square, Butetown, neighbourhood officers witnessed a suspected drug deal involving Jones.
After officers had detained Jones, he attempted to conceal a wrap in his trousers before discarding it onto the floor. 12 wraps in total were then seized. Jones confirmed to the officer that the wraps contained crack cocaine and heroin.
A review of Jones’ mobile phone was found to contain messaging consistent with drug supply and Jones was arrested.
A later search of Jones’ room revealed 36 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin contained within a plastic pot, hidden within a bacon roll.
Inspector Gareth Handy said:
“Our neighbourhood teams are patrolling day in and out to keep our communities safe and stamp out criminality. This stop search is just one example of how the Cardiff Bay Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to proactively disrupt drug supply.
“Illegal drugs always have devastating effects on the people who use them, their families, friends and the wider community. Jones will rightfully head to prison for his actions.”
