Cardiff drug dealer jailed following bike crash

DRUG dealer Kya Evans has been jailed after an off-duty officer detained him following a crash captured on video.

Evans, 21 from Careau crashed his suron bike while riding it illegally on October 15 on Pentrebane Road.

An off duty officer who was on his way to work detained Evans who was then found in possession of a crack and heroin, a large amount of cash, and two phones.

Another man was arrested for affray after repeatedly threatening to physically assault the officer whilst brandishing weapons.

On 11 December at Cardiff Crown Court Evans pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply crack and heroin. He was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment.

DI Tim Jones said, “I am really proud of the actions of my officer which clearly shows the commitment we have in tackling county lines drug dealing.

We are also thankful for members of the public at the scene who assisted DC Davies whilst police were arriving at the scene. Vital video evidence was supplied by a group of cyclists who witnessed the incident.

The lengthy custodial sentence should act as a deterrent to those tempted to get involved with county line drug dealing. Our force remains committed to tackling county lines dealing and this is one of a number of arrests made recently.”
