Donations help fund accessories for Wellbeing Hub in Carmarthen

THANKS to generous donations, Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, has been able to purchase games consoles and accessories for the new Bro Myrddin Wellbeing Hub in Johnstown, Carmarthenshire.

The new hub is Wales’ first mental health crisis hub for children and young people who are in need of urgent support and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

It provides round-the-clock bespoke mental health provision for children and young people in the right environment, at a time when they need it most. Bro Myrddin provides a safe space for children and young people who present in crisis, preventing distressing and unnecessary admissions to A&E and mental health wards.

The NHS charity has funded an X-Box console, PlayStation console, controllers, docking stations and several games.

The consoles and accessories will be used in the safe hub rooms by young people that are in crisis.

Angela Lodwick, Assistant Director of Mental Health and Learning Disabilities, said: “We’re incredibly grateful that charitable funds have allowed us to purchase this new equipment.

“The consoles will help the young people in crisis to have some relaxation time. We hope they will make a big difference to the wellbeing of the young people that will use the service.”

Nicola Llewelyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
