Body recovered following multi-agency search for missing canoeist on River Teifi

ON Thursday evening, officers from Dyfed-Powys Police were involved in a multi-agency operation on the River Teifi in Cardigan.

A search was conducted for a canoeist who was reported missing just before 7.40pm. Sadly, the body of a man in his 20s has been recovered from the river following extensive search and rescue attempts.

The search involved Dyfed-Powys Police, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, HM Coastguard and specialist search and rescue teams.

The body was recovered at about 01:00 on Friday after several hours of searching.

Dyfed Powys Police said no formal identification had taken place but the next-of-kin of the missing man had been informed and were being supported by officers.
